Willis Towers Watson and CGU

Willis Towers Watson continues to assist and ensure that your staff are safe and supported. In the event that an injury does arise, any employees can focus on their recovery with a strong support network behind them.

What is the scheme?

  • Established since 2002 with 40 members, the CGU / Willis Towers Watson scheme has now grown to over 130 members.
  • Provides free ‘employer focused’ advice and training to ISV member schools with the objective of improving employer outcomes predominantly in initial and ongoing WorkCover claims liability reviews, maintaining excellence in customer service, updating you on legislative changes and improving return to work performance.
  • Fully funded by CGU Workers’ Compensation to improve employer claim performance through Willis Towers Watson specialist services.

Workers’ compensation services and benefits offered by the scheme

Willis Towers Watson WorkCover, OHS and Premium Help Desk

  • Independent and expert claims and OHS helpdesk / advice. Willis Towers Watson’s primary job is to support and protect you, the employer.
  • First point of contact to determine claims strategies and liability on all new and existing claims and premium matters.
  • Planning and implementation of strategies for claims management and assistance with conciliation disputes.
  • Premium analysis (e.g. ensure correct industry classification, review your premium sensitive report, premium modelling / forecasting).

CGU Specialised and Dedicated ‘Independent Schools’ Claims Team

  • CGU will notify Willis Towers Watson of new claims lodged so that Willis Towers Watson can independently assist you with early return to work strategies and appropriate advice on WorkCover claims liability.
  • Assistance with claim reviews and advising of legislative changes impacting scheme members.
  • Formal visitation schedule for member schools where required and a dedicated CGU Account Manager. Comprehensive range of complimentary claims training offered at CGU premises.

Training services and benefits offered by the scheme

Training and Awareness Seminars

  • Specialised and custom designed training sessions held at Independent Schools Victoria. For example:
    • WorkCover management of claims and legislative updates
    • Stress management and legislative changes
    • OHS management and OHS legislative change impacts
    • Risk management applications
    • Critical incident management

 Employer Manual ‘How to Manage WorkCover Guide’

  • Developed by Willis Towers Watson specifically for eligible ISV members.
  • Customised tool designed to calculate weekly compensation payments in line with the reforms and to monitor reimbursements paid back by CGU.
  • Simple and easy to use – designed to assist schools to meet reforms associated with claim payments and return to work.

Eligibility to the scheme 

  • An Independent School Victoria Member. 
  • Member insured with CGU for Workers’ Compensation. 
  • Schools can sign an Insurer Transfer Form before the 20th day of any given month to ensure transfer is effective the 1st of the next month.

Cost of the scheme 

  • There is no cost. 
  • Willis Towers Watson is paid an annual fee directly by CGU Workers’ Compensation for the provision of the above services. 
  • Victoria’s premium rates are regulated and set by WorkSafe Victoria for all Agents; therefore there will be no immediate change to your premium as a result of joining / being part of this scheme.
